Weekly Update #1
It’s certainly been a lot longer than 2 weeks since my last update. I got back from Europe on Nov 5 and didn’t really get much done at all during vacation. And then, my family decided to visit and there was Thanksgiving. Anyway, enough excuses. Time for the update:
Buy a micro-business - tried to find a good deal but there aren’t many goal deals out there within my budget. The better deals seem to be in the 100k USD range rather than the 10k USD range. I’m going to table this goal for now, although I do eventually really want to explore this form of entrepreneurship.
Release v1 of "Everyday Habit Streaks" app to the App Store - this one, I got done a couple of weeks ago! App’s on the App Store (see screenshot below). I ended up building it in Expo rather than Swift and not spending too much designing it in Figma. Glad it’s done, and not sure I’m going to spend too much time on this in the near future.
Write for 30 mins every day — did a terrible job here :P I need to figure out how to motivate myself to write and enjoy writing better.
Besides these goals, I’ve been spending a lot of time playing around in crypto. I finished The Infinite Machine by Camila Russo and How to DeFi. I’m halfway through Mastering Bitcoin. I'm now the proud owner of abiraja.eth and one Solana NFT (the one pictured at the top). I’m shocked by gas fees on Ethereum even though all the most useful applications are built on Eth.
Initial impressions of the whole landscape: lots of interesting things happening but much of it is so raw and rough. Really hard for me to understand what’s potentially useful vs. what’s just hype and pyramid schemes. Need to dive deeper, which brings us to this week’s goals:
Release a NFT showcase for Solana NFTs
Finish Mastering Bitcoin book
Publish 2 blogposts (switched from a process goal of 30 minutes every day to a result goal - let’s see how this goes!)
I’ve already been having a ton of fun learning Rust over the last few days so I’m pretty excited about Goal #1. Goal #2 - the book has been very illuminating around the nuts and bolts of Bitcoin and is a way to hopefully better understand the more technical aspects of crypto, in particular Layer 2 solutions in Ethereum and Proof of stake in Eth, Sol and other chains.
See you Monday!
